Going on a holiday to exclusively experience wildlife sounds a dream come true to many. Luckily, the world is filled with them and you won’t have a lack of options if this is the kind of travelling you have in mind. It can be a bit difficult to know where to start, though, and which part of the world you’d like to start in.
Simply pick an option from the list below and work your way through it to see the most magnificent wildlife our world has to offer. You might even have to wander deep into the African nature reserves or find yourself deep underwater, face-to-face with a great white. Which is just what you had in mind, right?
#1 Go on a safari
All animal lovers know that a safari is the way to start experiencing animals in their natural habitat. Sure, you’ve seen a lion before – but have you seen one that is not caged up at the zoo? Safaris are perfect for animal lovers who love to travel as the word means ‘journey’ – and you will definitely be on a journey, that’s for sure.

Visit Kruger National Park in South Africa, for example, or head further up the continent to the land of the Masais in Masai Mara. Keep in mind that you will be doing a lot of travelling, though, and you’ll often be up at the crack of dawn before rolling on dusty roads for the rest of the afternoon in the blazing heat.
Nature, however, makes it all worth it – as well as being able to see the great five, of course.
#2 Visit other national parks
You don’t have to go on a safari to meet wildlife, though, and a trip to Africa might be out of your budget at the moment. Luckily, there are many national parks all over the world that you should definitely visit – and you can even make a list of the ones you’d like to see before spending a month on travelling to each one.
It’s an animal lover’s dream come true, so start by having a look at Cooloola National Park in Australia and dream about all of the great nature experiences you’re going to have.
#3 Go on a whale safari
Perhaps you’re more into aquatic animals? You still have a lot to choose from and most of the countries that have whales passing by will offer whale safaris during these seasons such as South Africa and the north of Norway.
If you happen to head over to Africa for that safari, you might as well throw in another whale safari while you’re at it.
Just keep in mind that you can only see the majestic animals during certain times of the year and in South Africa, you should try to aim for June to September. Unfortunately, this is during the winter months. If you’re used to European winter, however, you’ll hardly find it to be too cold.
Wildlife holidays are the best kind of holidays and you have an entire world to explore – both in land and in the oceans.
