Afternoon Tea. Killer Taipei 101 views. Birthday Celebration.
Those were the 3 things that I need to tick during our Taiwan Trip. It was my sister’s birth month and I wanted to surprise her in advance for her birthday. We don’t get to travel as much as we did for the past few years and I was really glad that she joined my trip. Marco Polo at Shangri-La Far Eastern Plaza really struck me with its amazing Taipei 101 views. I made a table reservation for two in an instant and requested for Taipei 101 table view.
Marco Polo Lounge is located on the 38th floor of Shangri La’s Far Eastern Plaza Hotel. We were in luck to avail the special Yazbukey Afternoon Tea that is only available from July 5th to August 30th. We were welcomed by the breath-taking panoramic views of the Taipei 101 and the incredible city skyline from the vast window panes. I knew from that moment that I have made the right decision to book at Marco Polo to celebrate my sister’s birthday.
We were not really into fashion, but the Yazbukey Afternoon Tea set was so quirky. Creativity dominates that afternoon. It feels like we were in Yazbukeyland.
I asked prior to our afternoon tea if I can bring a cake for my sister and the F&B reservation staff informed me that the afternoon tea set dessert in the lounge contains both salty, sweet
and there will be a small cake inside. They assured that there is no need for me to prepare separately and that they will take care of everything to make my sister’s birthday memorable. As promised, they prepared a birthday dessert dish decoration for my sister’s birthday. My sister was surprised with the Happy Birthday set up and I was extremely glad that she was delighted!
We spent the entire afternoon enjoying our Yazbukey High tea with Taipei 101 views. My sister had chamomile tea and I indulged with Lavender tea for a change. I’m loving it! I guess I’m going to have lavender tea on my next afternoon tea. It’s kind of addicted, except it makes me sleepy to the core. I love how watchful the staff were to fill out our tea pots without calling their attention.
The Yazbukey Afternoon presented exquisitely in a four tier tea set that looks like Taipei 101 and each frame were filled with tempting treats. The Savouries are not only cute, but as well as delicious! The pan seared scallops compliments well with the prawns’ mango salsa. Beautiful appetizer that reminds me so much of great summer fruit salsa not to mention incredibly healthy.
The potato eggs salad with Japanese Mayonnaise on brioche bun looks simple, yet filling. My favourite savoury item is smoked salmon with avocado sour cream salad on a pastry shell letting the taste of mixed salmon and avocado shine through. It could’ve been better with a cream cheese, nevertheless, the sour cream is appetizing and enigmatically strong. Another set of brioches bun comprises of Parma ham with melon and black olives is so rich and sweet. I tastes the Parma ham so honeyed, saline, moist, succulent and the fat is so filling to the mouth.
The sweet items were exceedingly adorable. From the lips orange vanilla biscuits to the lipstick chocolate is just too lovely too eat. The choux pastry cream has a classic taste that looks freshly out from the oven. The puff is light and the inner cream has a luscious substance.
Marco polo is so elegant not to mention with a fabulous view of Taipei 101. When we left they turned the entire place into a bar which for sure would be an absolute chill.
Ohh such limited time, Taipei! Nevertheless, I had an unbelievable afternoon tea memories with my sister.
