% Arabica – A Japanese Coffee Brand is now in Kuala Lumpur. The Coffee Shop, which is in the notorious Al-fresco of Pavilion, looks stunning and eye-catching with its minimalist and bright ambiance. What intrigues me though is the insane number of people in queue – they say when people line up for a cup of coffee, it could either be of two things – It’s good or it is just all hype. The former sounds better though.
The queue is such a discouragement. I’ve only been to % Arabica when I passed by for a grocery run, bumped into two friends in front of the coffee shop itself, and decided to stop by for a quick breakfast in % Arabica. What a perfect time! There was no queue at all! How lucky we were!
The café is small yet quite deceiving due to the mirror reflections that gives someone an impression that the space is expanded of some sort. I adore the simplicity, cleanliness, and contemporary design – minimalist white walls as well as the interesting % beige bags filled in each shelf and the intricate design on white walls.
We ordered Hot Café Latte, Iced Cafe Latte, and Spanish Latte. For pastries there were only four selections available: Croissant (RM 12), Canelé (RM 12), Pain Au Chocolat (RM 14) and Almond Croissant (RM17). We had Croissant and Pain Au Chocolat. The quality of the coffee, I would say is top notch, but the croissant and Pain Au Chocolat were nothing but greasy. Looking at the % Arabica Pavilion Menu, the coffee price is slightly expensive and available sizes are 4oz, 8oz, 12oz. Nevertheless, for an extraordinary coffee with high regard on the quality and brand, I think it is acceptable.
Is it worth it? I would say yes. In fact, I would probably go back for another cup of coffee and get canelé, this time.
I just hope that the queue is less!
