Chillax, Boho Style Restaurant and Bar at Resort De Paksani lured us during our stay in the resort. It reflects ingenuity and creativity. The marble tables, wooden chairs, dried flowers and over sized wooden lamp lights that brings the whole place into life.
The tag line, “Nothing brings people together like good food” intrigues me. The Restaurant has just enough space to move around, enjoy some good food and cocktails. Koms was craving for Tom Yam despite having it at Cicada Market on our first night in Hua Hin. We planned to check out Tamarind Market that night, and apparently it was closed on Mondays through Wednesdays. Clearly, we did not make a good research!
Koms heard that the restaurant per se served good Tom Yam and she’s looking forward to try that. The restaurant was about to close, but they were kind enough to serve dinner for us! It’s an unpretentious gesture that touched our hearts that night.
Cocktails
We started off with some creative cocktails Tequila Sunrise and My Mary Pickford. The latter was Aon’s, the bartender’s own version of the cocktail, with the right balance of citrus flavor. They had a buy one take one promotion at that time and it cost 200 THB for both.
Starter
For starters, we had a large bowl of colorful Greek Salad (185 THB), which consists of watermelon, cucumber, wild rockets, and feta cheese. We tossed to combine all ingredients. Healthy and full of flavor! Can’t get enough of it.
Main Course
As for the mains, I had Striploin Steak with red wine reduction sauce (590 THB), served with mashed potato. The beef by the way is a 150 Days grain-fed Black Angus Australian Beef. I requested it medium rare and the beef was cooked tender, succulent and more so beautifully presented.
Since, Koms do not eat beef, she indulged into Sea Bass Steak (350 THB), consists of champignon, seabass and a fish cream sauce. It looked really enticing and I take a slice of it. My taste buds enjoyed the cream sauce. Sublime!
Soup
We both relished into Tom Yam Kung (260 THB), typically with shrimps with Spicy soup. When in Thailand, Tom Yam is definitely not to be missed. The Tom Yam is indeed, tasty! Better than the one’s we had at Cicada Market. The aroma of the lemon grass creates a luscious highly sought after spicy and sour flavor.
Dessert
The Restaurant was going to close soon, and two guests were coming in to order some food, and although the kitchen was closed at that time, I see the kindness from the staff again to served them.
Here’s the fun part, while I was trying to finish the rest of the food. The staff sang happy birthday to me and gave me a cool ice cream desserts with caramelized pineapples and a candle on top! They greeted me happy birthday in advance. I was extremely surprised and impressed at the same time!
I looked at Koms with disbelief, who secretly allied with the staff to throw a surprise birthday blow out. I had no clue that it would be a special night!
There is one thing that I realized that night and that I was grateful for the people around me.
Birthdays can be a time of extraordinary celebration, and although it’s not my actual birthday, yet. Everyday is a special day to celebrate life.
