Beach Society is effortlessly chic Beach Restaurant and bar located in the private beach of the 5-Star SO Sofitel Resort Hua Hin. It’s a quiet seaside town transformed into a fabulous retreat for leisureliness, posh dining experience, ultimate clubbing and socialization.
A big fan of Thai and Western Cuisine, I naturally gravitated towards Beach Society’s Thai Fusion Menu. There’s nothing beats a lovely night dining by candlelight to the sound of the waves.
The look and Feel
Although the Beach Society looks ultimately glamorous with its very own pool, one can choose to casually dine with your toes on the sand and feel the soft breeze and magnificent views. Wooden Pillars dominated the open-air structure that looks naturally stylish. The soft lights from the modern and contemporary hanging lampshades make for a discretely intimate dining experience.
SO Signature Cocktails
We thought starting off with some cocktails would be a great way to begin our fabulous journey at Beach Society. I picked a fiery cocktail crafted exotically under SoJitos called “Some like it hot” (THB 280), which consists of white rum, soda, fresh lime, fresh mint, chili and ginger syrup. Such an intriguing combination, but well balanced. I love the aroma of the mint that blends perfectly well with the citrusy spicy flavor. Koms,on the other hand selected one of SO Sofitel’s Signature cocktail “Picking Dasies (THB 280), entails Vodka, raspberries, rose syrup, and sparkling wine. Judging by the look, it looks pretty fruity, yet once tasted it reveals a rich, intense and wild notes.
Pre – Bite
For starters, we hit it off with Tuna Tartare (THB 300) with spring onion, ginger, avocado and ponzu. The dish was beautifully presented and impressively taste flavorsome. It was served fresh, simply vibrant plate of raw tuna.
Intrigued by Sea Clams, we sampled Fire-Roasted Hua Hin Clams (THB 300), mildly spicy cooked in an earth stone oven-fired comprises of Sea Clams, green curry, and flatbread. The elusive flavor of the clams enhanced from the green curry was an absolute palate pleaser! I would give this dish a double thumbs up!
Mains
I chose Bouillabaisse (THB 450) and Sea Bass (THB 550) for mains in a heartbeat! Bouillabaisse involves grouper fillet, wild mushrooms, clams and Thai Bouillabaisse.
To be honest, I can’t quite describe the taste. I bet it taste better if a creamy coconut milk has been added. I love bouillabaisse soup, however this Thai style one taste quite acquiring.
The Sea bass on the other hand is mouth-watering. It involves pumpkin puree, greens, local sea bass, caper brown butter. The sweetness of pumpkin and the saltiness from the sea bass is just heavenly. This dish is also healthy, low-calorie and gluten free!
Koms craved to try Beach Society’s new in “Sri –Racha Honey Lime Prawn” (THB 350), it’s basically a marinated sea prawns with famous chili sauce, honey and cilantro. The prawns were freshly cooked and marinated well enough to boost all the tangy flavors from the ingredients. This made Koms alive! She loved it so much!
We needed something meaty and we picked Pork Belly Porchetta (THB 550), which consists of marinated Kurobuta Pork Belly, carrots, radish, mashed potato, grilled pineapple and a red wine sauce. This was cooked to my liking! The meat was soft, tender and substantial.
Desserts
We finished off our night with some sweet endings “Cookie Lava” (THB 260), and CRO-Nuts (THB 280). Let’s just say that I fell in love with the Cookie Lava! Hot Cookie dough lava with ice cream on top and caramelized syrup is sublime!
Cro-nuts is a croissant style donut with spiced coconut sugar, white chocolate sauce and berry sorbet. It looks really luscious and one sliced of it will leave you wanting more. Ahh, desserts are pure love!
Drizzle drops in the darkness of the night. The staff remained as cool as they can be despite needing to get the food from the kitchen. The passion to serve remains still. It’s admirable.
Beach Society is by far my favorite spot in the resort. It can be lively with some music at the bar, it can also be spontaneous and upbeat which does not lose its sophisticated fine dine vibe, and more importantly when circumstances’ like rain emerged, it switched the mood to a melodramatic atmosphere. The sound of the rain needs no explanation.
The food we sampled is not just another eating energy, but an exquisite dining experience. Whatever happens at the beach stays at the beach, yet our beach society memoirs won’t only stay there, we’ll take it back with us, treasure and pass it on.
Go get that SO memorable dining experience!
