Flaon is a new café and dessert shop in Jalan Tun H.S Lee serving creative cakes and artisanal coffee. It is easy to spot the café with its with its unique rose madder mixed with green ochre shade and is just across The Sri Mahamariamman Temple – the famous and oldest Hindu Temple in Chinatown.
The sweetest addition to the Petaling Street’s Café scene, Flaon named after Flan – a quintessential dessert of all time and other sweet tooth cravings such as artistic gateaux and luscious puddings. The Café looks like a modern cave house, interior is minimalist with its cube transparent table in between the curvy colorful acrylic long chair.
I had Flat White (RM 12) and a Cheesecake Pudding (RM19) with cream on top which is served in a wine glass. The presentation is lovely and adds a touch of exquisiteness into the dessert. Coffee is excellent but could be better if it was medium-sized. Inadequate for a coffee lover like me. Iced latte size looks decent though. I adored the spacious setting; however, it could easily get crowded. Pricing is high compared to other cafes.
When the night falls, it comes to life with the wine bar on the upper floor – Coupe de Vin. Posh setting with the glass ceiling overlooking the bustling Chinatown. The view of the world’s second tallest building the PNB Merdeka 118 and the Sri Mahamariamman Temple makes it remarkable.
Would probably run in to get a drink at Coupe de Vin.
