They say that Le Gouter is a French version of British lavish high afternoon tea. Complimentary to Club guests, I was pumped to try Le Gouter, a tradition that is entwined into the French culture.
We were greeted at Club Millésime (Sofitel’s version of the Club Lounge) with a welcoming ‘bonjour’. The ‘bonjour’ made me feel like I was on a holiday in Paris.
Grey marbled floors and high ceilings boons a huge space lounge. I spotted a table by the glass window with a perfect view of Damansara heights. It just makes a perfect ambiance for a cup of tea. I sat restfully on the stylish furnished modern chair and I noticed that the designs at the club has interesting details. There are arts on the wall, chandeliers hanging on the ceiling that adds radiance in style, and a divider which is similar to the wall in the lobby that portrays the Malaysian’s moon kite and an Eiffel tower structure.
I smelled the aroma of the Chamomile tea as the staff poured it on my tea cup. I always prefer Chamomile, although most people drink it before they go to bed, I can drink it at any time of the day without feeling drowsy. The staff delivered the sweets in style. My eyes feasted at the beautiful delectable chocolate Brownies, Cranberry muffins, Crème Brulee, Raspberry cupcakes and Chocolate Mousse cups and assorted tarts. Everything was gorgeously presented on the table. The star of the afternoon tea would definitely be Crème Brulee! The texture is so polished and rich in flavour. The creamy custard beneath goes well with the caramelized topping. It is so classic! It is one of my favorite quintessential dessert of all time.
Mar relished his Earl Grey so much and took every bite of sweets like a mousse-and-tart craver. It was an afternoon full of insane delight-fullness. They say that an afternoon tea brings people together for great conversations. We didn’t have a lot of catching up to do since we live in the same apartment and work in the same company, then all of a sudden we looked back on our first day in KL and realized that this end of the month will be our 6th year anniversary of being an expat in Malaysia. Oh how nostalgic it was! Recalling our best, happy, crazy and even sad memories in KL. So many things have changed! We also couldn’t believe that we were enjoying Le Gouter at that very moment. Gratitude is an understatement.
Who knew Le Gouter can make us celebrate the little things in life.
C’est Magnifique!
