Wan Chun Ting literally means “Pavilion of 10,000 Springs” is Sofitel’s fine dining restaurant serving imperial Cantonese gourmet. The restaurant has a spherical room with grandeur chandelier hanging on the high ceiling. The wooden chairs and white clothed table represents a classic imperial Chinese diner. Majestic is an understatement!
The restaurant served Ala Carte and Dim Sum and we opted for the latter. Dim Sum is a great idea for a Sunday lunch. Not only that it taste delicious, it is also good for sharing. Mar and I need to share because our stomach was still full from our hearty breakfast at Club Millésime.

We started with Pan fried bean curd roll with Mozzarella cheese (RM 20). The appetizer was beautifully presented on the table with an edible flower. It has a crisp irresistible texture that made me so addicted. The rolls were cooked with depth flavor and moist tenderness. I learned the best way to order dim sum and that it to start with such tempting roll.
Some food like steamed salted egg yolk custard bun (RM 16) is a kind of bun to droll over! Ahh it is such a popular Asian treat that is always present in Dim Sum. How could we not missed it? Soft, tender and just right enough of egg yolk filling to turn my lunch into an extraordinary dim sum experience. Ahhh, I opened the steamer basket like every now and then! It was just heaven on my mouth!
Chef’s recommended Giant Dumpling topped with sea cucumber scallop and abalone sauce (RM 38). Rich dumpling taste so sinfully delicious. The oozing abalone flavour sauce feels like at the peak of Chinese Nirvana!
Another Chef Recommendation is steamed shrimps dumpling Har Kao (RM 20). Ahhh this is so old school! Who can’t go wrong with a traditional Cantonese dumpling Har Kao? I loved that the shrimp dumpling transparency’s texture is indulgent and the small bite sized portions at the steamer basket made me come back for more. Could this be #1 Dim Sum picks of all time? I dare say yes!
I didn’t have anything for the main course, however Mar had braised wanton noodle with mini whole abalone (RM 58). I am really just satisfied with the Dim sum. I find happiness through its rich flavour and colourful sio mai. Throughout the entire lunch, the attentive waiter never failed to fill our tea cups with chrysanthemum tea, a tea that I am beginning to like as it taste kind of close to my all-time favourite chamomile tea.
We ended our sumptuous lunch with sweets! Mar had Cream of Avocado topped with vanilla ice cream (RM 18) and I had Chilled Mango puree served with Pomelo (RM 22). The dessert was top generously with mango puree and I can also feel the pomelo pulps on it. It looks like a simple sweet course, nevertheless I enjoyed every scoop of it!
The ambiance at Wan Chun Ting is definitely beyond regal. Dining there would make everyone feel like a kings and queens. Intimidating setting, yet the staff are very welcoming and focus throughout our entire dine. We vowed that we will come back for more dim sum with our colleagues that have Chinese cuisine addiction.
Wan Chun Ting is where classic old school Cantonese cuisine with a twist of modernity enticed everyone. It is hard not to fall in love with Dim Sum at Wang Chun Ting.
We turned to be Dim Sum radicals that day. Temptation is infinite.
