Mugshot Café in Chulia Street Georgetown Penang is one of the cafes for breakfast mainly for their famous signature wood-fired bagels, delectable pastries and quality of coffee. A modern café with old school charm – nicely decorated with books, photographs, and quirky paintings on the wall. The café is fairly long in space with some wooden chairs and tables all the way to the end.
Right next to it is Rainforest Bakery – its sisters’ company where you can order pastries. Payments can be made separately but feel free to sit wherever you like. Our timing was on point for breakfast. We had Flat White and Oat Milk Latte that compliments well with almond croissant and cranberries with cheese croissant. We settled for a seat outside – those firewood and Christmas tree behind the cute wooden coffee table and chairs is so irresistible!
Mornings like that were sipping a cup of coffee and people watching instantly became pleasurable. We love that moment. Pasties were good – so soft and crunchy at the same time. Delightful is an understatement. We had less expectation at this café, but satisfaction was a surefire! If this is in KL, we have already gotten ourselves some pastries back home. Penang is all about food and we are exploring more of it.
With its cool interior, superb coffee, and mouthwatering pastries – Mugshot is highly recommended! The café doesn’t disappoint. Early morning would be the best time when there is no crowd. Fair price for the quality of food and beverage they offer. Staff are accommodating and friendly.
What a lovely morning at Mugshot. An absolute gem. Trendy little spot that is 100% worth the hype! I wish we had the same in KL. We’ll swing by the next time we’re in Penang for some bagels and cream cheese!
