Café, Food and Flora – This pretty much describes Pomace Café. The new Coffee Shop situated in Kuchai Business Centre freehold shop office development in Kuchai Lama. New Café to get that Coffee fix, Fusion Food and Houseplants sounds like an amazing triad! I was thrilled to explore their food, coffee and marveled on those plants which I am recently obsessed.
Since I’m residing in Old Klang Road, finding the place is easy. The façade welcome guests with greeneries that is soothing to the eyes. It was a busy weekend, but we were attended by closely by the staff and the friendly Chef Founder Mao Sheng Toh. The café is simple, yet full of beautiful plants that give a refreshing vibe. Its pretty much new and they’re on a constant progress to enhance the atmosphere.
We started off with Sambal Udang Linguine (RM 34), Chef’s recommended pasta with a twist of Malaysian flavor of Anchovies Sambal, Tiger Prawn and Spring Onion. The fusion blew my mind; it’s a dish, I believe that every Sambal fanatics and pasta lovers need to try! When I tasted this food, first phrase that comes to my mind was “Malaysia Boleh!”
We were in luck to sample the Non Alcoholic Chardonnay that was crafted specially for Merdeka occasion. The drink itself was legendary, the flavors in mixture were pineapple, cucumber, plum garnished with thyme on top caught us by surprised! Refreshing exotic notes, indeed!
Next food we tasted was the Guacamole Open Sandwich (RM 27), which is also on the Brunch menu list; need to be eaten while the bread is still crunchy along with the Café Latte. It consists of Sourdough, Avocado, and a poached free-range kampong egg. I love poached eggs and it was perfect for brunch.
On plate perfect for sharing was the mouthwatering Spanish Garlic Prawn (RM 28), a humble dish comprises of Pomace Olive Oil, Tiger Prawn, Garlic and Chili. The unpretentious tapas I would say is ever- delicioso! I mean who would say no to Tapas?
Another Brunch that would rock all saucer would be X.O Duck Egg Fried Radish Cake (RM 21), entails Radish, Dried Shrimp and Scallop Chili Paste, and Duck Egg. Absolutely the best masterpiece the Chef crafted. The zest and aroma from this dish is worth notable you’ll 100% ditch your usual Duck Egg Fried Radish from the streets!
Another delectable from the plates to share list was Buttermilk Fried Chicken Tender (RM 18), composed of Cajun, Herbs, Lingham’s Hot SauceMay and Lemon. Not only that it’s best for sharing but absolutely a great pick for munching! From the name itself, it is buttery and crispy!
Last but not the least was the Spicy Meatballs (RM 25), minced beef was cooked good. The blue cheese along with the tomato, chili and spring onions compliment each other well.
The place is also haven for plant lovers. In fact, you can purchase the plants and bring it home with you. It’s a great ambiance to chill over a cup of coffee. My favorite though is the food! The food at Pomace Café is unbelievable! The chef is pretty good at his craft. The passion and the drive on what he does are remarkable. Few Chefs are also friendly and mingle with guests to ask how’s the food despite on a busy weekend. Moreover, I admire that the menu is extraordinary, infusing more of our local favorites from west to east. Kudos to Chef Mao Sheng Toh!
Finding this new Café is definitely bliss.
