Tanjung Tirai View Café is a seafood restaurant in Kuah that serves fresh seafood primarily Malay and Thai cuisine. The biggest highlight here the is the sunset views whilst having a delightful seafood meal!
We were so lucky that the weather cooperated that day. So fortunate that despite taking the grab car so late we still made it right on the sunset time. We were greeted by Zariff and recommended us with some of the Chef’s Signature dish.
Our table was set up beautifully by the sea. We sampled Ikan Siakap Masak Asam Jawa (Deep Fried Seabass served with special Tamarind sauce). Hot, tangy and the right amount of sourness from the tamarind that balances the overall flavour.
Another optimal seafood dish that everyone never missed to order would be Sotong Goreng Tepung (Deep Fried Calamari). Fresh, tender and crispy squid that taste so good. It must be their distinct home-made recipe that made it special.
Chef Signature dish Tomyam Campur was also presented on the table. Zariff mentioned that the Chef supposed to be serving White Tomyam, however it is very spicy for us Filipinos. So, he recommended Tomyam Campur which was great because my two buddies cannot take spicy as much I do. It made me curious, I’m pretty sure that’s will be delicious. You guys can opt for it if you love and can take super spicy food! The Tomyam Campur tho is delicious, bold yet light, citrusy and I adore the aroma that is coming from my ever-favourite lemongrass!
Last but not the least was the Siput Buluh Masak Halia (Bamboo Clams Stir Fry Ginger). This dish tho reminds me of one of the famous dishes in the Philippines called Tinolang Tahong (Mussels in Ginger Broth). The fragrant smell from the ginger was soothing. I love that the bamboo clams were not overcooked. I can say that it is fresh, briny, light and the ginger neutralized the unpleasant smell. It sure does make it slightly tastes fishy.
Tanjung Tirai View Café is by far the tastiest seafood dining experience we had in Langkawi. It really caters to the taste of locals. Being in Malaysia for 9 years now, I can attest that this truly one of the best. It’s a little hidden but it’s meant to be found! Make sure to add this on your Langkawi bucket list. You won’t regret. Don’t forget to check weather forecast to ensure you’ll catch the sunset views. You deserve a breathtaking view as much as we do!
And oh, if you’re a typical sundowner this spot is for you!
