Newly opened café hidden in the neighbourhood of Bukit Bintang, The Three Years Old Café is nestled right behind the famous VCR Café, beside Pahit Bar, and in front of 8Haus. This street Sin Chew Kee filled with hipster cafes, speakeasy bars, funky resto – reminds me of years spent in Bukit Bintang.
The white vintage townhouse building with trees and evergreens placed appropriately around the modish two-storey shop retells my café experiences in Melbourne. It is new and they only accept reservations for their soft opening. Thanks to Ram for securing our seats – always ready and beyond. I was drawn to their honey-coloured wooden furnishings, the three beautiful ladies in vintage off-white outfit at the counter which pretty much define the Three Years Old Café and the La Marzocco Coffee machine in white and wood panels that matches the overall theme of the Café. An old childhood Tres Marias Coffee Shop dream with my sister’s flashes before my eyes.
My eyes feasted with the variety of pastries, cakes, and brunches. I ordered Cheesecake and Café Latte in an instant while Ram devoured into Café Mocha, canelé and classic scone. Cheesecake is fantastic – I can’t complain. The only thing bothered me at that moment was the amount of people, probably due to fact that it is new and well, very Instagram able.
We came back after few weeks for a Wednesday Brunch and sampled some of their good stuff. This time we stayed a little longer, midweek breather – Working from Café. I picked Seafood Marinara Spaghetti and Ram selected Smoked Duck Aglio Olio Spaghetti. Honestly, I didn’t like the Seafood Marinara. I wished I could’ve chosen Smoked Duck Aglio Olio. In addition, we had baked Brownie, Cheesecake, Macadamia Cake, Flat White and Americano – were satisfying.
I would say I love the place, a lot.
Looking forward for another round of brunch.
