Wu Di Café is the new minimalist cafe in Jalan Galloway joining the array of VCR and Three Years Old. The old building which can be traced back to 1920s has been restored into a café with rooftop bar. Beautiful foyer in white, rattan chairs, wooden tables with little greeneries looks appealing.
First time I stumbled upon the café was almost evening with my Vietnamese friend. We were looking for a new place for a cup of coffee despite being super late. We just woke up and we decided to hit Wudi Café. I was surprised though that a new café which is trending is not jam-packed on a weekend. Later after we had our meal, I realized why. The food was nothing to shout about and expensive.
Cakes were limited and there was no cheesecake available. I was really expecting cheesecake and craving at that time but ended up with Fresh Salmon (RM 19) and Grilled Saba Fish (RM 27). Both sounded pretty delicious though, but it wasn’t. I would say that it is a healthy meal, the least.
The rooftop bar was closed at that time. I’ve been meaning to check it out but unluckily for some reason the staff who is unfriendly just shrugged off and give a sign that it was closed. The 2nd floor is spacious, simple yet stylish with dried leaves hanging on the ceiling, and the LED light quotes décor illuminates the area.
The second time I went to was to meet friends over coffee and they choose Wu Di Café. I figured I’ll give the café another chance. I hadn’t had lunch yet and I could bring my laptop to do some work. I had Grilled Salmon (RM29) with mashed potatoes, veggies, and latte (RM11). I would say I enjoyed the Salmon this time. Friends had Iced latte (RM12) and Rose Kombucha (RM18) to which my friend finds it light and refreshing. Lemon Cake doesn’t taste good, though.
The rooftop bar was again closed for the 2nd time around. I guess I won’t be able to see the rooftop bar they were raving about. I am also not sure if I will find myself at Wudi Café again. Probably not for now.
Price wise – expensive, Food is something you won’t be coming back, service could be better, lovey ambiance yet no wow factor.
And oh, rooftop bar is always closed? *Shrugged*
