You’d be forgiven for assuming that cruises are reserved for old school Love Boat fans and grandparents, wearing dodgy Hawaiian shirts while sitting by the pool reading one of the classics… But you’d be wrong! Things have changed, including technologies and attitudes, so now cruise holidays are at the top of every traveler’s list. Still not convinced? Well take a look at these reasons why cruises rock.
1. On board entertainment got way cool
Cruise ships put on some incredible productions that could rival the West End and Broadway. From musicals to orchestras to planetariums (yes really!), special effects and technology are used to create nights to remember. There are also many opportunities to get involved with the entertainment, like dance classes, skill workshops and karaoke – go on, you only live once!
2. Money saving travels
One of the most enticing reasons for booking a cruise is the financial side of things. You can find loads of deals out there to suit your budget. Once you’ve made the booking, there really aren’t many more costs to consider. Food and drink is usually included in the price, as well as accommodation and use of basic facilities on board. Some deals even include spending money to use in the spas, shops and upper market restaurants on the ship. Far simpler and cheaper than booking multiple hotels, plane tickets and restaurant tables around the world, right?
3. One trip, many destinations
Fall asleep in Corfu and wake up in Mykonos, Istanbul or Limassol. Everyone has a bucket list of destinations to visit and a cruise can tick off a good proportion of them. You can get off at each port-of-call and book onto excursions or follow your own set of activities; from cruises around the Mediterranean to voyages across the Baltic sea to a tour of the Caribbean islands – your dream itinerary is probably out there waiting to be booked.
4. Foodie heaven
Jamie Oliver and Marco Pierre White are just two celebrity chefs who have set up restaurants on the seas. There are some real high-quality eateries on board cruise liners. They usually are not included in the ticket price (this covers the on board buffet) but it is worth splashing out on a culinary experience maybe once or twice.
Countless destinations, extremely delicious food, renowned entertainment and low cost tickets – travelers of all ages and interests will no doubt love a cruise experience.
