Skybar at Trader’s Hotel is one of the rooftop bars in KL that offers an obstructive view of the Petronas Towers. It’s a place to sip cocktails and just chill with great views over KL. I recently had a chance to try some signature cocktails and snacks at Skybar. It’s one of my favorite rooftops bars and I thought it would be great to revisit to check out what’s new in the bar.
Sunset is definitely the best time to stopover at Skybar. It was raining in KL these past few days, and luckily the weather cooperated. Perched on the 33rd floor and the original rooftop bar to hang out and the only bar in KL where you can party till dawn.
We nuzzle into one of the poolside cabanas to get the best views. The chic design of the huge alcoves never failed to impress me. Looking into the signature cocktails, I was thrilled to taste Smash Basil (RM 55), a very refreshing drink. It’s an unpretentious craft with a kick of gin and lemon juice. It was served on a chilled cocktail glass top with basil sprig. What a beautiful cocktail! Van, on the other hand had East and Zest Cocktail (RM 55) with a base of a vodka, ogreat syrup, lychee, pineapple juice, and lemon juice. Both were thirst-quenching that matched the tropical pool vibe and the dramatic sunset.
Knowing we were going to stay longer, we picked some snacks, The Skybar Bucket (RM 95), a signature snacks which consists of half a dozen buffalo chicken wings, mixed satay, cross cut fries, crispy fried seafood served with tartar, peanut, and chili sauce. The bucket is huge and it is good for sharing.
The casual vibe shifts into an electro and vibrant night as the DJ plays some of the favorite beats. The energy is utmost and partying at Skybar is a sure way to enjoy the night. You bet a New Year’s Eve Party is the best way to watch the fireworks and celebrate the countdown here.
We got a really nice spot in the cabana and one drink won’t suffice so Van picked Asian Delight (RM 55), contains of Jose Cuervo tequila, guava juice, lemon grass, kariff leaf, lime juice and sea salt delivers a summerlike nutritious cocktail. I was enthralled to pick Evergreen (RM 55), Skybar’s signature drink that entails Gin, elderflower liquer, Sage, lemon juice and kumquats creates an herbaceous, sunny cocktail. The flavor rich citrus notes builds a invigorating drinks while we glanced into the beaming twin towers, which is the star of the night!
We finished with a chocolate fondue dessert (RM 45), which is basically an assorted fruits, marshmallows, macaroons, and some brownies. We simply just picked the fruits and plunge it into the chocolate dip. I love how Skybar turned our favorite fruits into a summertime dessert!
They say that you haven’t been to KL unless you’ve been to Skybar. True That! With skybar’s uninterrupted views and beautiful setting that provides a great late night drinks and party with friends is one of the things not to be missed in KL.
