SEA, Thailand

A murky day in Pattaya Beach, Thailand

Having a lazy day in a deckchair with the breeze coming off the ocean at Pattaya Beach is the only thing I wish it was like but it wasn’t. The beach is one of the main attractions in Pattaya however it’s not really one of those beautiful beaches you imagined. The beach is crowded and not maintained at all. The sea is kind of murky and little littered but the vendors sell great foods in fact we had our meal for only 120 Baht. Many find the vendors irritating but they offer tasty meals and good massage as well. There are some vendors who will bother you, will come back again after you tell them no. And oh by the way, the umbrellas and chairs have charges. Pay first before you sit. Jetski’s are very famous there but make sure not to be tempted of renting jetski’s most of them will tell you that you created the damage and will make you pay for it. Sounds like a scam and it surely is.

Me, the beach and the crowd

Spending a day in Pattaya is quite okay. It’s not a typical beach to relax. It is much commercialized beach and I think the beach is overrated. The sand is soft but such an embarrassment that it’s kind of rubbish. I wish I had explored Thailand on the other side perhaps Phuket or Krabi but we were there and instead of being uber disappointed we changed our beach moods; my beach buddy Chaddie boy and I had a bottle of beer. We forgot how dirty the beach was, how crazy the bad umbrellas were and how crowded Pattaya was. We had our own little world in Pattaya. We had fun bargaining the souvenir shops and Chaddie bought a skimboard at a discounted price. We disregard how nauseating the vendors are, instead we make friends to them, there were so amazed that we kind of look-alike and the “same-same” expression is unforgettable.

The Food! :)

THai Hat for souvenirs!

The beach

The tuktuk ride.

We realized that there were great shaded place for a walk along the beach although the color of the water is really not inviting. The beach road by the way is much more interesting. A Thai we came across advised us to check Koh Larn Island but we had no more time. Despite the filthy beach we encountered at Pattaya. We still love Thailand. It is still my favorite country. I will keep on visiting Thailand and surely hit Krabi next time.

  1. Eventhough how commercialized and crowded Pattaya can get, it’s still a nice beach perfect for a short getaway. Thailand is one of the cheapest countries in the world to visit but offers attention-grabbing sights and tasty food which can really make your Thai travel unforgettable!:)
