We ditched the traditional three-tiered silver platter high tea and embraced Arteastry Afternoon Tea at Trace Element Hotel Kuala Lumpur. Arteastry is a very unique afternoon tea that involves Art, Tea and Pastry. It sounds like fun, a perfect place to celebrate my 6th Year Anniversary in Malaysia. Arteastry is definitely the most quirky afternoon tea we’ve bumped into the city!
The 360 degrees view from Trace Restaurant greeted me. The window spots were already taken. The skyline views of KL was a delight. Nona did not arrive on time. This was the first time that she was late. Patience is not my strong suit. The staffs were very concerned and asked me if I want to move to the window seat. They probably saw my desire to move to a spot with a greater view!
The Afternoon tea was fashionably presented in bento boxes decorated with shiny black slates and glasses with gleaming pink stones. The Bento was jam packed with Smoked Salmon cone, Scones, Crème Fraiche, beef mushroom herbs croquette, Red Pepper Tomato Macaroons, Confit Portobello Mushroom and Swiss cheese Bruschetta. The Dry-ice special upshot reinforce a cool and voluminous clouds effect!
An afternoon tea is nothing without scones! I scooped out clotted cream for my scones. Cream and scones are match made in heaven! I was enjoying to distribute the chocolate dip onto the broken off piece of my scone, too! It tasted pretty good along with the mint tea!
I was really enthralled by the appearance and the savouries. We finished it and they cleared our plates and surprised us with an amazing presentation. The server laid a special paper to paint the “Into the Forest” scene. The artist began to place chocolate balls in the center, strokes chocolate and raspberry sauce all over the food grade newspaper. He carefully heave chlorophyll crumble, marshmallows, chocolate soil and fresh berries! What a masterpiece!
Sometimes, we think that an Afternoon Tea is just for adult people, like it makes us the Aunties of KL. No pun intended. I felt like an addictive little girl in a surprise artistic chocolate party! The chef handed the small food hammer to me to crack the chocolate ball! I dropped the hammer on top of each giant chocolate sphere and voila! Tempting Brownies on the centre revealed! I didn’t know that I could be Thor in an instant, except of course, there was no thunder effect!
I smashed each piece as artistically as possible.
How could such an Afternoon Tea be fun and interactive!
