I walked slowly through the coastline while the waves hit the rocks; the wind blows like forever and the water, oh yes the water, the emerald green color of the sea that blends perfectly to the bright blue sky I could stare at it without blinking. Love at first sight. I never thought to be this wonderful. In fact I don’t even know the name of the beach until I’ve landed to this powdery beach.
I met Bamboo Island.
From the name itself, the beach is surrounded by bamboos and that’s all I know about it since I did not pay attention to our dear tour guide. It was early in the morning, a great time to walk, to swim, snorkel, take photos and simply just sit back and relax. I spotted the part where I could swim when our tour guide interrupted “don’t go to that part since there are lots of Korean!”. My friend whispered to me, “Racist! (Inserting curse here)” We loathe our tour guide for some reasons I’ll share it next time on my Phi Phi Tour post. The area she was pointing to was exactly the spot I’ve been eyeing to swim. I disobeyed her. I don’t mind sharing the same swimming spot with Koreans but they already left! Since no one dared to go there as instructed by our guide, that part was mine.
I explored the island while my friend was taking videos from the other side. I finally gave in to dip, the waters were tempting, warm and so clear I even saw a school of fish. I closed my eyes while I float. I felt the water so relaxing it drives me crazy. I don’t even care about getting sunburn. All I wanted to do that time was to float, float and float. The fishes were fearless I felt them on my skin. If only I have my own underwater camera.
The sand is pure white sand and I love how it touches my soles, soft and creamy. The hermit crabs scamper along the shore. The bamboos that were lined up seem like jungle but looks lovely when the wind swayed them. The ray of the sun light shimmers to the water. The crowd is incomparable as that of Maya Bay or maybe because we were too early. To see Maya Bay is a dream come true but Bamboo Island is by far my most favorite beach in our entire island hopping in Phi Phi. My photos do not do justice. If only I could stay until the sunset, I would!
Pardon me, I love being in the city but there is something about Bamboo Island that makes me yearn for more.
Bamboo Island – ’till we meet again.
