We all need that city break once in a while, and recently we were in earnest a need of something a little different from the usual chaotic weekend in KL. We turn to Avani Sepang Goldcoast Resort for a peak relief.
Perched on stilts over Malacca straits, Avani Sepang Goldcoast Resort has long held a reputation of stunning overwater bungalows in a shape of a palm tree for a relaxing weekend getaway.
Check-in process was smooth, not to mention that the hotel staff is very welcoming. We stayed in a Superior Room Overwater Villa with a private balcony facing the sea and a sheer spot to glimpse the dramatic sunset. The room is luxuriously spacious with a generous king-size bed and nice mosquito drapes, Flat screen TV, WIFI, Daybed which can be converted into an extra bed, Mini Fridge, In safe facilities, Ceiling fan, Air-conditioning, Coffee and tea making facilities and an En-suite bathroom with shower. I am fascinated by the sea view from the glass window like literally every corner has a good view, even the private bathroom I kid you not, there is a view of the villas and the open sea, but of course, there is a curtain to utilize during shower time!
The balcony with table and sun chairs is my favorite part of the room, The view is just unwinding. The air-conditioner is not working, I called to report the issue, and without delay, a repairman was sent over to our room to fix it. The problem was solved and I was very satisfied, this is a mark of a quality resort, Things may go wrong, but the resort organize scheme to immediately set it right is what matters the most.
The breakfast is served at Bila Bila Restaurant and the setting is just right next to the infinity pool. With variety of food selection of Asian and western cuisine and top it off with a great view is a perfect morning to spoil one’s day.
Dinner at Hai Sang Lou is my favorite! They served quintessential Chinese Cuisine with private dine in room for total fine dine experience. My picked for that night was the Crispy buttered crab partnered with a Shan Cha Hua tea (Camellia Flower Tea). Me and my friend are tea lovers and we fell in love with the Camellia tea that we had like five glasses of it as far as I can remember!
And who doesn’t love to pamper oneself? I had a traditional therapeutic Malay Urut Massage at AvaniSpa, this is Avani’s Signature Massage. It truly was a soothing massage that relieves all my tensions.
Unlike other resorts that provide charges for activities, the hotel offers a variety of free activities to do at the resort like biking, stand-up paddle, volleyball, beach football, windsurfing, kayaking, Zumba, and even yoga class. We didn’t bring our yoga clothes, but that didn’t stop us from joining the early morning Yoga Class by the beach. An early morning dip at the infinity pool is the best time to fully enjoy the pool.
We also loved to bike around and explore other places like the Sunset beach where few restaurants like Perahu Restaurant and Selat Bar for sun downers.
We stepped into a traditional Malay house and stop over at a Dragon Fruit farm where Sindi, our tour guide feed us with informative facts about the over all Banghuris Tour. Our visit to a rural village was very educational and remarkable experience. We were able to see how the locals live their everyday lives, no rush, just simple people who live a content life. It was something like I never pay a visit on my almost 6 years of living in Malaysia. It make me reflect about the simplicity of life and away from the toxicity of the modern city.
That weekend spent at Avani Sepang Goldcoast Resort was truly meant to be a great time of respite from an arduous 9-5 job and another good memories shared with a friend.
